On October 18th, I had the pleasure of attending the Project REAP-ATL Town Hall. Project REAP, the Real Estate Associate Program—is now widely acknowledged to be the most successful diversity initiative in the commercial real estate industry.
The purpose of the Town Hall meeting was to introduce the new interim Executive Director, Ken McIntyre of PassPort Real Estate, LLC. He has an extensive background in commercial real estate financing. He spoke of his strategic vision for the organization moving forward, which includes fostering careers and not jobs in addition to increasing the support of corporations and eventually self-funding. I look forward to assisting with bringing the vision to fruition by increasing the marketshare in Atlanta and expanding the program to other markets.
I also learned about another organization that promotes diversity. The Real Estate Executive Council (REEC). REEC is the leading professional trade organization formed to promote the interests of minority executives doing business in the commercial real estate industry.
